GALT, California — November 4, 2026. One of the closest local ballot questions in Sacramento County is Galt’s Measure L. The county’s sem-final unofficial report recorded just three votes between No and Yes on a proposal changing the city’s municipal code provisions for the city clerk and treasurer.
Only three votes separate the sides
The Sacramento County Registrar of Voters’ election report, timestamped 1:25:40 a.m. Pacific on November 4, lists 2,075 No votes (50.04%) and 2,072 Yes votes (49.96%). A total of 4,147 valid Yes/No votes were reported on the question. The report labels countywide returns SEMI-FINAL, not certified.
What was on the ballot?
Measure L is described in the county election report as the City of Galt proposal to add Chapter 2.14 (City Clerk) and Chapter 2.18 (City Treasurer) to the municipal code. The precise legal effect should be interpreted from the measure’s full text, not assumed from its brief ballot label.
This is a separate ballot contest from Galt’s District 5 council race, in which Tom Silva and Paul Sandhu were separated by 32 votes in the same overnight report. Those two contests address different local offices and rules.
Why the count remains open
With such a small margin, every newly verified ballot may matter. The county continues its post-election canvass, and an election-night lead is not a declaration that the measure has passed or failed. Galt residents can check the next certified updates rather than rely on circulating claims.
