GALT, Sacramento County — November 4, 2026. One of the first district-based Galt City Council elections has produced a close vote in District 5, where Tom Silva has 489 votes (51.69%) and Paul Sandhu has 457 (48.31%). The difference is 32 votes in the initial county results.

District 5 is a separate electorate

The county reports 1,037 ballots cast among 3,369 registered voters in District 5, with 946 candidate votes tabulated in the race. Those totals include undervotes and different ballot choices; the reported vote percentage does not establish what voters in other parts of Galt chose.

Other Galt districts

For District 1, Mark A. Jackson has 420 votes as the only named candidate. In District 3, Bonnie Rodriguez has 637 votes as the only named candidate. Write-ins are separately reported in those districts. Unlike District 5, the published ballots for Districts 1 and 3 show no other named opponents.

Why certification matters

The council makes decisions for the city but is elected by geographic districts. Eligible mail and provisional votes may still be added, and a 32-vote margin is too narrow to treat as a final result.
