GALT, Sacramento County — October 23, 2026. An official city document establishes the central facts in this report. The details below explain what residents can verify, where decisions remain preliminary and why dated city records matter.
A new way to choose council members
Galt adopted Ordinance 2025-04 on March 27, 2025, dividing the city into five election districts. The November 3, 2026 general election is the first municipal cycle under this district-based approach. Instead of choosing every council member citywide, eligible voters choose the seat assigned to the district where they live. Districts 1, 3 and 5 are the seats on the 2026 election schedule, with four-year terms scheduled to end in 2030.
Which candidates are confirmed by the city?
The city clerk’s published candidate filing report lists Mark Jackson as qualified in District 1, Bonnie Rodriguez as qualified in District 3, and Paul Sandhu and Tom Silva as qualified in District 5. The report also lists Ken Lee as having received nomination papers for District 1, but does not show qualification in the displayed row. Receiving papers is not the same as qualifying for the ballot.
Why check your district first?
Some Galt residents may be accustomed to at-large elections, so their sample ballot may not match a neighbor’s in a different district. The city’s election information provides an interactive district map. Sacramento County election officials, rather than this newspaper, maintain the official voter lookup, vote centers, drop boxes and ballot tracking.
Where to get assistance
The city lists Clerk Tina Hubert, 380 Civic Drive, email clerk@cityofgalt.org and phone 209-366-7130 extension 7 for nomination questions. Use Sacramento County Elections for voting procedures, and read each candidate’s filings before drawing conclusions about endorsements or campaign finance. California58 endorses no candidate.
